The Prime Minister is, to all intents and purposes, another MP in that election scenario. We talk about having a two-party system a lot of the time but why do we describe it in that way? Because fundamentally, since 1945, we have had a politics dominated by either the Social Democratic or Center Left Labour Party. There's a third party, it's often referred to as such, the Liberal Democrats who stand some way between the two big parties.
