Do We Need to Work on Self Regulating Our Emotions?

One of the most powerful ways to help kids get in touch with their feelings and come up with a solution is by helping them self regulate emotions. We know that middle scholers are really bad at labelling their feelings, and they're even worse at asking for help. So parents can model for their kids: I'm feeling blank, so you know what i'm going to do? I'm going to call that relative i miss. Or i'm feeling really anxious because i'm disorganized, so i'll pay my bills  that i've been putting off for two weeks.
