The Rise and Fall of Messylina
Messylina comes from a family that is right at the top of the socioeconomic spectrum in Rome. She would have had a well-rounded education and she seemed to have married slightly later than was usual around kind of 17 or 18. In terms of actual facts about her childhood, we don't actually even know exactly what year she's born. We have to reconstruct it from probable gates of her marriage and also of her mother's remarriage after her father's death.
