The Effects of Fire on Forests

We used to have like 13 trees per acre, you know, very sparse trees. They were old growth and they were allowed to billow out. Whereas now if you look at a lot of our national forests, they're just letting it go. That's how we prevented the fungus from taking things out. But now you have these forests that are everything's growing close together. And pine beetle, different types of things can rip through a little more easily than before.
