The Cycle of Attraction to Socialism
I think this is an interesting question too, because this is one of the things I really liked about the book. In general, it really shows you how much of our political arguments and movements and attraction to them is sort of cyclical. But it's very true today too, that the appeal of communism or socialism for layering and for other people in our generation wasn't necessarily the economic ideas. It was presented as a thing that was stood in contrast to this stifling conformity of the main street and of small towns of America.
