US Special Operations Commandos Are Active in Training Proxies
The United States has increasingly relied on supporting or deputizing local partner forces in places like Niger and Somalia. The goal is to reduce the risk of American casualties and blowback from being seen as occupiers. US special operations command has grown exponentially over the last 20 years, especially with the so-called War on Terror. And these operations are overseen specifically by the Pentagon's Special Operations Command.
