Is the Chorus the Ideal Spectator?
Schlegel was giving a popular version that, oh, it's the ideal spectator. Rihtso you think that an ideal spectator would be somebody who knows he's a spectator. But medinesian chorus is doing exactly the opposite of what schlegel does. They're not seeing what's happening on stages in illusion. They're taking it absolutely seriously. In that way, exactly that's sort of giving us the ability to suspend disbelief ourselves by identifying with them because they believe it. Substantiation.
