The Theologian's Discourse on Islamic Theology

The ideas appear early in the history of islamic theology. The community as a whole must include select individuals who perform inquiry. In effect, the theologian is doing the epistemic work for every one else. Just as there need to be some mujtahids in law, without every moslem having to perform ichtihad.
