In 1968, five black girls dressed in oversized military fatigues were picked up by the police in Montgomery, Alabama. By the 1960s, domestic and international politics had shifted towards a fairly clear anti-communist agenda. In fact, during this time, anti-Chinese sentiments were so widespread and accepted that most Americans didn't consider their apprehension to be racial bias.
