Is There a Purpose of Art?

In your novel, you foreshadow. So there's certain parts where you say, you know, I'm going to tell you about this rescue story, but not quite yet. Or the second rescue story arrived a month later and you have that sprinkled through. And I'm wondering as a craft device, and maybe it's just part of who Lucy is, if you can talk about that.
