The Fed's Purview on Financial Stability

The Federal Reserve was started to prevent bank panics, right? It certainly was. And I would argue though that financial stability itself has not been impaired. What we're talking about is the difference between bank failures and systemic risk. There are definitely dominoes lined up. But when I say that it's not systemic yet, it's because we're not reading about contagion in other countries.
