The Importance of Corporate Reform in Japan
The weekend is a double-edged sword. It's good for Japanese businesses, and I'm sure they're quite comfortable with the yen at 139.140. However, it does make imports and prices for the average Japanese consumer very difficult. And obviously for those globally orientated companies or the exporters, this is great. This is a kind of instant profit margin boost if the currency is weak. But hey, look at the stock market. We are at the highest levels since 1990, and that suggests that company profits are benefiting.
