The Importance of Topical Sermons

Topical sermons don't serve well as the basic diet of a church, but I think they're fine as a supplement. My first topical sermon was on expositional preaching. The elders from time to time have weighed in and said, Hey, I think we could use a little concert teaching on X. And sometimes you can do that through expositions, but I'm not sure what that means.
