Introduction
Xenophon was born in Athens and lived from around 428 to 354 BC. He grew up with the background of the Peloponnesian War. His interest in horses suggests that his family were members of the wealthy equestrian class. In his teens, we do know that he became one of the well-off young men who associated with Socrates.
