Uruk is a settlement that continues to exist for thousands of years so we think of course of great this great period of heroic kings like Gilgamesh and the great buildings of the late third millennium but the city continues to flourish. It's sitting on a branch of the river Euphrates providing the essential water to feel to feed the fields and the date palms that surround it.
