Le miserabe is one of the longest novels in history, at a wopping one thousand, 900 pages. It's a tragic tale of love and loss, set after the french revolution. He also read walt whitman, thomas paine, thomas jefferson. And drew a lot of inspiration from the abolitionist generation.
