The Effects of Psychological Abuse on Children

I think that psychological abuse is much more harmful than a little smack. You've got forms of physical chastisement, which can be very, very painful, and don't leave marks. So even when there's legitimate abuse, a child still looks up at their parent as their protector. And so would I want the state to come in and stop punishing parents who hit? I don't know.
