The more i learn, the less i consider some of the foundational rules to be sacred. Fusion means that you each have to understand exactly where the other person is coming from and then take their world and then superimpose it on your own. So i don't think any rules are sacrosant. And often the choices i make tend to be stylistic in the sense that i like to,. for instance, makes a heavy metal version of, say, a classic rock song with carnatic overtones. It's just my way of saying, well, this anchors you to that, bright, and now i will improvise on the raga only on top of this."
