The Disappointment of Marco Polo
The more you read Marco Polo, the more you realize that he was sort of a merchant who wanted to do his business and get around the world. I feel like I'm pretty hard on him in the book and fair enough, he was motivated by profit. But I also am pretty in awe of what he did, coming out of Venice at the age of 17 and moving through the world the way he did. It was pretty remarkable for that day and age and it is still.
