facebook is still essentially a startup, or at least running on impa structure that came out of a startup. There seems to be no excuse to not have back up s somewhere else. The cid was more resilient to attacks on the scale of taking out twitter orragl bought d y n in two thousand 16 with plans to slash jobs and switch off services. It's just that they didn't ever plan for all their stuff being down at once.
