Police theorized that an obsessive or disgruntled fan might be to blame, and that Cat's work had earned her a stalker. During his arraignment, the prosecution offered Jeff what's commonly known as an Alfred plea. This is when a defendant maintains their innocence, but also admits that the prosecutor has enough evidence to convict him of the crime in question. Had Jeff accepted, he would have done time-serve then just a two-year probationary sentence.
