What Are the Benefits of Open Source?

The main project that i actually work on in the open source world is a project called neovim. It's basically like, you know, microsopt word, but for programmers. So it's what i use to write my code in. But the whole ject is open source, which is realy qual. That just means, like, it's free for people to use. And if there was something that you didn't like, or a feature that it didn't have, you could actually go and get rid of it.
