Christianity is two thousand years old, a tiny fraction of human experience over millennia. It is a young religion finding its way which makes it exciting to contemplate. The most plausible doctrine of western christianity, depressingly, is original sin. And at the root of all sin is pride. If historians are prophets, and they be in the original meaning of the hebrew equivalent of that word, spokespeople, then their principal prophecy is against pride.
