Pithakusai: The Earliest Greek Settlement in Italy
Pithakusai is supposed to be the quote unquote earliest Greek foundation. But when you look at the evidence, it doesn't look like a Greek colony in any way or form. The archaeological record starts in the 8th century BCE; the Latin texts are around Christ. It's highly unlikely that there would be any accurate record of any settlement being truly the first.
