The Chicago Tornado of June 13, 1976
The deadliest tornado to ever hit Chicago killed 33 people in 1976. The 16 mile path caused over $50 million in damage, nearly half a billion dollars in today's value. Tornado tore across the Dan Ryan Expressway during rush hour, tipping over a tractor trailer before heading out over Lake Michigan.
