Shakespeare's sonnet 121, Tis better to be vile than vile, esteemed is one of my favorite poems ever. He talks about trees as bare ruined choirs in Sonnet 144 and uses feminine rhyme on a number of occasions. One of the great pleasures of poetry is the shades of meaning, says William Empson.
