Black Soldiers and the Civil Rights Movement in America
The 93rd Infantry Division has been trained and sent to the South Pacific as an African American division under segregated policies of the time. So you've got black soldiers serving under a mixture of white and black officers but certainly the more senior you go the whiter it gets. Unlike pretty much every other unit that's going into combat they have a sort of divided America invested deeply either in their failure or their success. If you're a hardcore white supremacist you want these guys to fail because it'll show way out that these are lesser people we're going to treat them as second class citizens. Then there's the civil rights folks who are heavily invested in their their success saying okay this shows that these guys
