The Marxist Left's View of the Russian Revolution
Many on the Marxist left saw what happened in Russia in 1985 as that first kind of revolution. It was more like the English Civil War, England's liberal bourgeois revolution according to Marxist theory. The peasants were rebelling but it wasn't the proletariat that were leading it. Everybody wanted a parliament with a real vote and a real say - apart from some Marxists who said this is nothing to do with us.
