The Name of the Language
Greek has an even longer history than latin, and is changed at least as much as latin since the time of pericles. So why do we still call it greek? Well it's quite simple, because no one from the outside had the nerve to tell greek people that they weren't speaking greek. But what about the name of the language? If it came from latin, why do we use a word that is clearly derived from thename of the franks? Well that's another interesting piece of history and of socio linguistics.
