The Entanglement of Race and Inequality in Western History
I want to dedicate some time to discussing that opposition as it exists today a little bit more towards the end. But before we get there I think it'd be worth talking about what concerns primarily the first half of the book which is this theme of how western history from the 18th through to the 20th century has been one of entanglement of race and inequality on the one hand and ideas of equality and common humanity on the other. So again it's a way of understanding why that should be so rather than simply accepting that this is the way it is.
