How Dangerous Was Sea Travel?
The dangers of sea travel at that time were very real for the greeks and later on, for the romans. There were pirates, unscrupulous captains or crews who could be as dangerous in some ways as the waves or the wind itself. A sailor had to also know where they were going, be able to navigate by the stars, especially by the plan and the moon,. In order to be far enough away from shore that you wouldn't run ashore by accidenttegos - absolutely important back then.
