Electropharynx Generated Voice After Surgery
When you've had a laryngectomy, which is basically the removal of your vocal cords, if I'm not mistaken. And so after you've gone through that surgery, you need to use what's called an electropharynx to speak. You might have seen some smokers sometimes use these devices that have had surgeries. What comes out is a voice, but it's very robotic sounding. It doesn't sound natural at all. So one of the things that we've been working on with Fred is developing these kinds of technologies to record a little bit of the patient's voice before the surgery.
