The Role of Decoherence in the Many Worlds Theory

Quantum decoherence is the idea that macroscopic systems and even some microscopic ones very rapidly become entangled with their environment. It's what guarantees that we're allowed to treat these different parts of the wave function as different worlds. You might think of this process of environmental decoherence as sort of what's erecting the barriers between these various things that people in this tradition refer to as different worlds, so on and so forth.
