The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan
By 1965 Elvis is finished, you know, the Beach Boys are almost finished really as an act. I mean, like the early 60s pop music was gone and it was being replaced by these art songs by bands like the Beatles. And it's interesting also because both Paul and John loved Brian Wilson and they thought that the Beach Boys were geniuses. They may not have respected the, I think they understood Elvis was important, but it's a little different there. But let's talk about just Dylan's influence. Clearly you can hear Dylan's influence on songs like Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Dylan, you have to have a hard, lovely way.
