The Violence of the Cross
God is perfectly holy. And when he is sinned against, he needs to have a violent blood sacrifice made to him to set things right again. That's just the way God is. He can only have his honor restored and be able to forgive sin against his holiness. But if they don't have faith in his son before they die, then he has no choice but to eternally pour out his wrath on them in an eternal hell. Yeah, that's that is what many Calvinist influence. It's not a historic understanding of the cross in any way.
