The Spartan Mission to Athens in 431 BC
Sparta or their allies did march into Attica to fight the Athenians until march of 431 BC It took nine months for the Spartans to fulfill what they had just voted for Probably because after the Spartan people voted for war following the anger spurred on by Svenelatus's speech. This is reinforcing Thucydides's belief that the Spartans wanted to make war to check Athens's growing power But didn't want to publicly admit it.
