I really took pride in being jewish, and much more than i did being soviet. My parents didn't grow up having a bar about mizpa but in them it was more ofa cultural tie that you marry some one jewish and that you continue the faith as well. So for me, it was never an issue of having to be forced to do something. I'm proud of their success in being a boshepa. And my children now speak russian and take russian lessons as well. It works. Exact what e is worth.
