The Complexity of GDP
GDP is a very complicated, not at all a perfect measure of the size of the economy. It's this usage in common parlance has become so widespread that we tend to mistake it for being simple and uncomplicated. Any country when developed countries struggle to come up with a good number or good measure of GDP because it's a very, very complicated thing.
