The Argument for Public Accommodations
Corporations can essentially count on the fact that their competitors are going to do the same thing or something similar. They're not really worried about pissing off conservative consumers to such an extent, as in a market where you have a lot of different competitors. You have essentially a cultural monopoly and then consumer choice and these kinds of boycotts just is not a way of punishing them. There's no mechanism for the customer to do that.
