The Second Intermediate Period

New dynasty emerged in lower egypt, making their capital at the city of avarus. These kings emerged not from the ranks of local governors or royal viziers as past dynasties had. They belonged to a group the egyptians called the hixos. The fact that the Avarus base rulers were foreigners is generally considered to be the defining ateristic of the second intermediate period.
