The Debt Crisis in the 1990s
This would be the first time in a modern election that the question of deficit and debt would not come up if indeed it does not. Is that an indication then that the parties have just given up that they've admitted this is an insoluble problem? I think it is actually. Most people don't realize it because most people incorrectly think there were budget surpluses under Bill Clinton in the 90s. That's not correct. We have had a budget deficit every year since 1958.
