Greeting card company Hallmark wanted to build a bustling city in Kansas City, Missouri. Don Hall pitched the idea of this Crown Center to the city who loved it and gave Hallmark imminent domain over 25 blocks. Ground was broken in 1968; initial cost estimate of $115 million ballooned to $400 million in a decade. The Hyatt Regency Hotel and Crown Center's Jesus Christ Factor would be the Skywalk in the atrium.
