Common ideas within the german culture of wotan, i think, provide the sort of the raw material for what caspar david friedrick and fredrich nice are doing. Both lead the audience to powerfully identify with the wanderer in both painting and literature. And nicha's own example as the wanderer philosopher, and his call to us to come with him on his adventure. Ah, and so maybe that's why the painting and the works of the philosopher, they're not directly related. They've always been seen as sort ofartistic kith and kin, i must said, artistic.
