Thevadata's Ascetic Disappointment With Buddha
Buddha allowed monks the freedom to either live in forests or settlements, and allowed them to beg or eat with generous householders. Thevadata disavowed all these things, and thus claim to be a more serious ascetic than the buddha himself. They are all won back by the elder shariputa and mogalana and wily coyote. I mean, thevodata becomes so furious that he spits blood and dies. But it's very interesting that they mention prince ajata shato of magada, the ambitious son of the ambitious king bimbisara. Ajata shato is widely believed to have killed his father to come to power
