Compulsory schooling has only really been around for about a century and a half, and it was pushed into existence by the Robber barons as a way of preparing the masses for a lifetime of working inside one of their many factories.

Does the state actually care that the masses receive a quality education, or are they actually interested in maintaining the two-tiered system where some kids get a solid education while the vast majority of the others are forced into the disastrous world of Common Core?
