Do You Have a Registered Mark?
If you don't use a registered mark for three years, it's presumptively abandoned. The database is a helpful tool. If you see something in the database, go do a Google search and find out what they're doing. But yeah, getting hung up on trademark registration is an unfortunate fact of domain law life.
