The Importance of Objectality in Psychoanalysis
According to lecan, psychoanalysis is not a study of stuff in the world. It's a study of causes and conditions of possibility for an object to pop up as an entity that can be studied by modern science. In many ways this trumps modern science because it's less concerned with objects of scientific inquiry than it is with Conditions of possibility for any certain object to pop as an entity to be studied at all.
