What Model Building Means to You?

Model building is a way of telling stories about how data could have been collected, but writing those stories down in t a mathematical language that sets us up to do ystical analysis. People tend to think of statistics being very mathematical, and that discounts how much it is story telling. On the other hand, if you're just telling stories without having a mathematical language to write those storiesdown in, then it's kind of hard to do any formal statistics with it.
