Humour in a Recession

In an economic boom, frankly, you can get away with trash or advertising. The bar is higher in a recession. So i guess another more general question here is whether humour, i cannot, in some economic sense, should be considered conservative. Clearly, black humour can be a way of accommodating oneself to a really bad situation. It's not for nothing that it's a common feature of military culture. And perhaps it isn't entirely coincidental that the president zansky of ukraine is, after all, an accomplished humorous actor.
