The Behavior of Elephants in Conflict

A lot of what informs the type of research we do comes from talking to people on the ground who deal with this every day, like villagers and farmers. I've spoken to a number of villagers in Thailand and in India that describe elephants going into crop fields and destroying crops without eating the crops. So if they're actively making decisions to come into conflict with people or to engage people in this way, I think that kind of raises the bar for how we define human wildlife conflict moving forward.
